In short
What does Gardenscape mean by outdoor kitchens and outdoor living?
Built-in outdoor kitchens, pizza ovens and outdoor living spaces designed for year-round use.
An outdoor kitchen built to be used all year
A proper outdoor kitchen is a built piece of the garden, not a barbecue on a trolley. Done well, it turns a terrace into a room you cook and eat in from spring to autumn, and on the right day in winter too. We design and build outdoor kitchens and outdoor living spaces to suit how you actually entertain, with the structure, the utilities and the shelter thought through from the start.
Built in properly, not bolted on
The difference between an outdoor kitchen that lasts and one that looks tired in two summers is the build underneath. We construct the cabinetry and carcass to stand up to weather, run the gas, water and electrics to the right standards, and integrate the appliances you want, whether that is a built-in grill, a pizza oven, a side burner, a sink or a fridge. Everything is set into a structure designed for the outdoors, not a kitchen unit that belongs indoors.
Worktops and materials that take the weather
The worktop earns its keep outdoors. Porcelain and other dense, weatherproof surfaces handle heat, frost and rain and wipe clean, so they keep their looks where a softer material would stain or craze. We specify materials to the setting too, so the kitchen sits with the house and the rest of the garden rather than standing apart from it.
Shelter, and the rest of the outdoor room
An outdoor kitchen works far harder with shelter over it, so we often design it alongside a pergola, a veranda or a roof that lets you cook and sit out whatever the weather is doing. The kitchen, the dining space, the lighting and the planting are designed together as one outdoor room rather than separate jobs.
Designed and built as one firm
Because we design and build under one roof, the kitchen is drawn around your terrace, your levels and the way you will use it, and built by the same hands. The utilities, the drainage and the structure are resolved before anyone starts, which is exactly where outdoor kitchens go wrong when they are improvised on site.

Common questions
Common questions
Yes. We design the kitchen around the appliances you want, including built-in grills, pizza ovens, side burners, sinks and fridges, with the gas, water and electrics run to the right standards.
Dense, weather-resistant surfaces such as porcelain and dense concrete. They handle heat, frost and rain, wipe clean, and keep their looks outdoors where softer materials stain or craze.
On the right day, yes, and far more often with shelter. We frequently build outdoor kitchens under a pergola, veranda or roof so the space works well beyond the height of summer.
Usually not for the kitchen itself within a garden, but a roof or larger structure over it, or work in a conservation area or the Cotswold National Landscape, can change that. We confirm what applies at the design stage.
Yes. The utilities are part of the build and are run and connected to the correct standards, which is one of the main reasons to have an outdoor kitchen built properly rather than assembled from kit.
