Answer

Is artificial grass a good idea?

Useful where a real lawn will not thrive, but a proper real lawn is usually better.

In short

It has its place, mainly where a real lawn will not thrive: deep shade, very heavy use, or poor drainage. Installed on a proper free-draining base it is low-maintenance and usable year round. For most gardens, though, a real lawn laid on well-prepared ground is the better long-term answer, so we offer artificial grass on request rather than pushing it.
